Hunting At Mountain Home Lodge

Mountain Home Lodge is situated in one of the best areas in Northern Ontario for moose, and grouse hunting. 

Our clean and comfortable cottages are well equipped with dishes, pots & pans, cutlery, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, electric refrigerator, propane stove, propane BBQ, and 3 –piece washroom (shower).

Guests supply bed linens, blankets, and pillows.

For the cool Spring and Fall nights all cottages are equipped with propane furnaces. For those wishing to rent a cottage for moose hunting, we border on Wildlife Management Units “40” and “41”. These areas are known for their healthy moose population and easily accessible by ATV, truck or boat. For the hunters convenience all trails in Wildlife Management Unit “41” are accessible directly across the road from the lodge. No need to spend valuable time getting to your hunting location.

Grouse hunting is becoming very popular as there are endless miles of bush and logging trails easily accessible on foot, by ATV, or 4-wheel drive vehicle. In our area, we have ruffed grouse and pine grouse. While the preferred grouse is ruffed grouse because of their white meat, many also enjoy the pine grouse which has darker meat.

There are many secluded inner creeks and ponds for those that wish to duck hunt. These are easily accessible by canoe or small boat.  If you require a boat rental, we offer a modern fleet of aluminum boat rentals equipped with 15 – 25 hp Yamaha motors, all the necessary safety equipment, swivel seats and fish finders. Our deluxe boats also have a full floor, and live well. If you choose to bring your own boat, we have a concrete boat launch, ample docking space, and shore power. There is onsite gas and oil.
