FISHiNG at Mountain Home Lodge

Mountain Home Lodge offers a wonderful vacation experience that everyone will enjoy. We are located in Marten River which is part of the Temagami old growth forest region on beautiful Red Cedar Lake; 45 minutes north of North Bay and approximately 4 ½ hours North of Toronto, Ontario or 4 ½ hours west of Ottawa, Ontario.

Our clean and comfortable cottages are well equipped with dishes, pots & pans, cutlery, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, electric refrigerator, propane stove, propane BBQ, and 3 –piece washroom (shower).

Guests supply bed linens, blankets, and pillows.

For the cool Spring and Fall nights all cottages are equipped with propane furnaces.

Red Cedar Lake offers pickerel/walleye, northern pike, small mouth bass, and perch fishing. It is one of the most prolific lakes in the area and has an average depth of 40 feet. Red Cedar Lake still remains a true Northern fishing paradise with 100 miles of virtually untouched shoreline and provides the photographer with ample opportunities, from the soaring bald eagle to the flora and fauna. The lake has many islands, bays, and inlets that provide many places for shore lunches, or places to relax and enjoy the “Quiet Wild”. We provide all guests with a map of Red Cedar Lake to make navigation easier, and mark the fishing spots for your targeted fishing species.

When not fishing you can relax at the beach, where you will find a swimming area with raft. You may also enjoy a game of horseshoes. In the evening, we have central fire pit for all to use. Our guests also enjoy the use of a kayak, paddle boat, and canoe free of charge.

We offer a modern fleet of aluminum boat rentals equipped with 15 – 25 hp Yamaha motors, all the necessary safety equipment, life jackets, swivel seats and fish finders. Our deluxe boats also have a full floor, and live well. If you choose to bring your own boat, we have a concrete boat launch, ample docking space, and shore power. There is onsite gas and oil and a full bait and tackle shop. In the bait shop we sell minnows, worms, and leeches. The fish cleaning station is closed in with electrical power, running water, and cutting boards.
